Domestic Violence
A survey of domestic violence data in Australia revealed that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men have experienced at least one incident of violence from a current or former partner since the age of 15. Between 2014 and 2015 2,800 women and 560 men were hospitalised after being assaulted by a spouse or partner.
The Fair Work Act now includes an entitlement to unpaid family and domestic violence leave as part of the National Employment Standards (NES). All employees are entitled to unpaid leave to deal with family and domestic violence. Pippa Colman will share what employers can do to help employees who are victims of domestic violence.
